Paris: Day 6 (London)

My sixth day in Paris was spent catching an early chunnel ride to London. I don't have very many pictures from London only because it was freezing out and we were only there for maybe 6 hours and we spent those hours riding around on a double decker tour bus hopping on and off. After seeing so much beautiful architecture in Paris, I thought that Buckingham Palace was very anticlimactic. Sort of like the Mona Lisa. Westminster Abbey, however, was one of my favorite things from the entire trip. It was absolutely beautiful. I even snagged a picture inside before I realized you weren't supposed to take any. Woops! I wish I could have spent more time and really explored London but I didn't get to. Next time!

Paris: Day 5

Spent my 5th day in Paris at the Louvre. The ceilings in part of the Louvre are almost more remarkable than the art exhibits in them. I think honestly that you can see the Mona Lisa better from a replica than the actual painting with the reflective glass and 10 foot guard rail. And holy shit, Napoleon had the most ridiculous "apartment" I have ever seen. If you go to the Louvre and are into architecture I highly suggest checking it out. It's tucked away in a corner but it's definitely worth it to find. I can't wait to go back and explore more!

DIY: Fabric Cork Board

Supplies you will need: Cork (I used a medium thickness), picture frame (mine is a 16 x 20), 1 yard of fabric, scissors, measuring tape, sharpie, and a stapler.

1. Roll out your cork and measure out the width and length of your picture frame. Mark it with a sharpie. Mine was a 16" x 20"
2. Cut out the cork.
3. Put the fabric face down and lay the cork over it. Wrap the fabric around the cork and staple it into the cork. You can also use a staple gun but I think the staple might then poke through the other side.
4. Insert into picture frame and voilà you have a cork board picture frame! I also suggest if you have a crease on your fabric to iron it or steam it before hand. I did not do that which is why there is a big line through mine. Hope you all enjoy!

Paris: Day 4

Day 4 was spent shopping along les Champs-Elysées and then wondering around the Tuleries, the area around the Petit Palais and the Grand Palais, checking out L'arc de Triomphe, investigating the Louvre, and finally ending with a much desired trip to the infamous Laudurée. The craftsmanship and the size of the buildings in Paris astonishes me. They paid so much attention to every single detail on every building they have ever built. I just absolutely love it. Laudurée lived up to its expectations, however the hot chocolate was literally a melted bar of chocolate. But I did have a macaroon that tasted like gardenias. Amazing!

Again, I apologize for the lack of fashion photos as I was with people who could not figure out how to use the camera. It's amazing I was even in some of the pictures.

Paris: Day 3

Monet's famous lily pad gardens where he painted many of his paintings.

Sorry for the flower overload! Day 3 was spent in Giverny where Monet's house and gardens were. It was such a beautiful sunny day and I spent hours just roaming through the gardens. I do have to apologize for the lack of "outfit" photos from my Paris trip, most of my photos were very touristy pictures of monuments or me cheesily standing in front of monuments. If you ever go to France, I would take the opportunity to go to Giverny. It's not too far from Paris and it is beautiful. I think it would have been even better in summer.

Paris: Day 2

Deciding which pictures to post is so hard when you have so many! I spent most of my second day running around Paris like a mad woman going to Rodin's museum/garden, going to Cézanne's exhibit at the Luxembourg garden's, then wandering around the gardens and staring at the beautiful chateau while having drinks at a café. We made it to the Eiffel Tower just as the sun was setting and I think that is when it is most beautiful. Lovely how the gardeners were there to ruin my picture at Rodin's museum, huh? I'm just dreaming of going back already...

Paris: Day 1

Since I have so many photos from Paris, I'm going to split them up by my favorites of each day. This was the day we landed, so excuse me for my jetlagged face and wild hair. It was pretty cloudy this day but we were lucky with getting beautiful weather for the rest of the trip.

Somebody seriously messed with the settings on my camera and now everything looks like it's glowing. I can't figure out how to fix it so these are the best photos I could take. It's starting to get shockingly (to me) cold in Chicago but I love the feeling of bundling up in everything from your closet. Thanks to Elizabeth for taking so many great pictures I decided to use most of them. It's hot as all get out in LA still and of course my air conditioning has decided to stop working for a few days so I'm dreaming of a nice ocean breeze rolling through here. I have only 1 class left in my entire grad school career and only 5 days left in LA. I'm starting to get a big nostalgic and sad that I'm leaving but I'm also very excited to go home and see my friends and family in Chicago. This post is my last procrastination for packing! Summer has officially come and gone, and while I do love fall, part of me is wishing I could hold onto the warm sunshine and that carefree feeling of the last dog days of the season. I'm especially not ready to say goodbye to my favorite rompers, dresses, and sandals for the next six months, my cold weather clothes are just not as colorful and exciting. Instead of pondering the missing pieces to my fall wardrobe, I'm choosing to get lost in the last magical pictures of my perfect Summer.

Just starting to wind down to the last week of graduate school. Life has been crazy these past 3 months with projects and it's been a while since I haven't woken up to a redbull. Really not digging this new blogger update. I'm not good with changing technology, by the time I figure out how to use the new version they switch it on me again! Happy 4th of July everyone! I'm celebrating in fabulous Las Vegas (my 3rd home) with some amazing friends. All 8 of us are shoved into a 4 bedroom house and we have converted the kitchen and dining room into little private bedroom nooks (that makes it sound better right?). We got a preview of some of the amazing Vegas fireworks last night and there was even a fountain show at the Bellagio at the same time making it for the most awesome fountain +fireworks experience ever. Hope you guys are grilling out and are just as excited as I am for more fireworks!

So I just finished another quarter of grad school today and am now 3/4 done and HOPEFULLY will have more time to blog next quarter. I haven't slept in three months and I still feel like I have a million things to do when all I have to do now is enjoy the next three weeks of summer break. Elizabeth and I will be reunited in two short days and we promise to bring you some extremely amazing posts for the next couple of weeks. I can't wait until Chicago where it will actually be sunny! I spent the afternoon at Louie in downtown LA with Renee eating an amazing meal, popping champagne, and eating the most delicious desserts. They made gourmet pizzas right next to our table and I wish I could have snapped a photo of our meal but I ate it before I could think about taking one. After the meal, we of course had to get some desserts to go and I scored a box of prettily packaged macaroons and Renee got some pastries. We then took some quick outfit shots on our walk home to end a delightful day. And yes, those are my alien toes, or skis as people refer to my feet due to their size. If you don't know me, then you aren't aware that I'm a total Sasquatch and if you do you're probably laughing at me right now. Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

Spring nail trend alert? One accent nail. Paint 8 of your pretty fingers one color and then pick another to stand out and paint a different color. Last week mine were pink with a blue accent nail and my nails ended up looking like cotton candy making me very hungry. Vanessa Hudgens painted hers metallic black and green for the Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides premiere.

Day at the zoo

I spent this past Saturday at the L.A. Zoo with a friend and the boyfriendo looking at ellies, raff raffs, and roos, and over just goofing around. I have been so stressed with work this past month I really needed a day just to relax. It started out cloudy but ended up being a really nice sunny afternoon. Hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing weekend as well! =)

Where do I even BEGIN? If you knew us, if you knew us at all, you would know about our OBSESSION with Disney Princesses. If you've been following us for a while you might have known from this post, but I feel ashamed of myself for not finding this gem earlier. Dooney and Bourke have collaborated with Disney to create, yes, DISNEY BAGS! I must get my hands on a Disney Princess item immediately.

I'm sure you all know by now that I have a penchant for anything rainbow (especially hair). Well it should come as no surprise that my absolute favorite pair of shoes in existence are the "rainbow" platform shoes designed by Salvatore Ferragamo in 1936 for actress Judy Garland. Last year, the still, family run brand, remade the shoes the 50th anniversary of Ferrgamo's death. Of course, they were only sold at limited boutiques, and even if I got my hands on a pair of them I am fairly certain that I would not be able to afford even 1/10th of the cost.

But good news, La Placard's current obsession, shoe designer Jeffrey Campbell has recently created a t-strap remake of the colorful platforms just in time for summer! The best part is they're under $200.

I don't know about you guys, but I stayed up until 3 AM last night (or this morning) to see Princess Catherine aka Kate Middleton's dress and she looked absolutely gorgeous in her wedding dress. Sarah Burton who designs Alexander McQueen created the dress for her. Do you guys like her dress?

Moonlight is in town and we decided to spend yesterday walking around the Venice Beach Boardwalk. We got feathers in our hair, bought little dream catcher bracelets, wore Lolitas, and even played around on the beach for a little. She was here for way too short and I miss her already. I remember reading something about how OPI was coming out with a Katy Perry collaborative nail polish collection but I never really paid that much attention to it. A few days ago, I saw a girl with this awesome spackled looking nail polish and I wasn't sure if it was one of those that's an adhesive to your nail or what but she told me it was the crackle nail polish (the black) from the Katy Perry line for OPI. Just swap on a color of something else and put the crackle on top of it and it turns out like this:
