Le Placard d'Agnes

 DOES

It's been a long time since we have posted any Placards (longer than we'd ever like to admit). After recently discovering her blog, we think Agnes' closet is a perfect place to start up again. As an English teacher in Hong Kong, she wrestles with being a fashionista while still keeping it classic for the classroom. You can check out her style blog here and check out her closet below:
Name: Miss Kwong Agnes
Location: Hong Kong
Occupation: Highschool English teacher
Favorite Quote: The critic has to educate the public; the artist has to educate the critic - Oscar Wilde
Favorite Designer: Miuccia Prada, Phoebe Philo

How would you describe your style? Classy, elegant, retro x modern, work-appropriate
Where do you get your clothes? For clothes, I tend to go high street stores like Zara and other local little boutiques. There are great bargains. I spend more on shoes, even more on bags. I want shoes to be put on for years and bags to be worn forever.
What is on your fashion wish list at the moment? Burberry boots for winter (preferably mid-heel - more practical!)

Thanks so much Agnes for sharing your amazing closet with us!
XOXO,
LP

A very colorful Le Placard

Our newest Le Placard comes from a fashionista who has an amazing collection of inspirational fashion photos as well as a knack for putting outfits together. After immediately falling in love with her blog and feeling inspired by her photos, we've asked her to be our next Le Placard feature! Meet Sherise and check out her blog URARAA here.

Name: Sherise
Location: Singapore
Occupation: Owner/Designer of Uraraa.com, an online clothing store that is about to be launched
Favorite Designer: Proenza Schouler, 3.1 Phillip Lim

How would you describe your style? Eclecctic, fun plus a hint of darkness

Where do you get your clothes? I have a whole sample rack of clothing that I'm getting made for my online store, I also started sewing some of my clothes(I made the 1st two dresses in the picture) and once in a while I'll get key pieces from high street shops like Topshop, Zara or Warehouse. I also really like Club Monaco because they have affordable, well tailored items. I really like jewellery as well, and will get a few statement necklaces, vintage rings and unique pieces from all over the place. I travel a lot as well so I'm lucky to get items from all over Hong Kong, Australia or the US.

The 1st two dresses I made in this photo are from fabrics I got in Los Angeles and the last dress is from my sample rack.

What is on your fashion wishlist at the moment?
As it's always summer here in Singapore, I wish very much that I could wear winter clothing here but it's just too impractical. I would love to have a vintage faux fur jacket or a cape but would only wear those when traveling to somewhere cold.
For right now, I'd like to add more bright separates à la Prada's Spring 2011 collection.

My wardrobe's a little bit messy, but I would say that I do have a natural preference for dresses, shirts, blazers and prints with a bit of black in it. I dont like anything too frilly and pretty, but if I did wear something frilly, I would probably tone it down with something more grungy like a lacey dress with a dull green boyfriend cardigan. I used to wear a lot of black and netural colours before but now I'm trying to liven up my colour palette!

I really love black strappy heels and nude coloured sandals - probably have too many of them.

The bracelet and bangles are previews of what's to come from my online store.

Thanks so much Sherise for sharing your colorful closet with us all the way from Singapore! We look forward to checking out your online store!

XOXO,

LP

A very new year Le Placard!

DOES

We've seen some pretty fabulous placards so far and we are very excited to share yet another amazing one with you today. Luckily for Mandy, she has a huge closet full of all of her fabulous fashion treasures inside and we got to take a peek at her favorite pieces! You can see Mandy's blog here and check out her boho chic style below!

Name:
Mandy (Amanda Holstein)

Location: San Francisco
Occupation: I'm a recent graduate who's currently teaching kindergarten, but am working on starting a career in fashion!
Favorite Designer: Betsey Johnson

How would you describe your style? Boho Chic. I love wearing laid back, hippie pieces but keeping them modern and polished. I try to be unique when I dress and interpret the trends in my own way. I also stick to what I like, even if it’s not on trend, because it’s important to keep the outfit looking me.

Where do you get your clothes? I shop at a lot of the same stores, like Urban Outfitters, H&M, Zara, and Forever 21. But I also live in a city with so many unique boutiques, vintage shops, and street fairs that it’s easy to find one-of-a-kind pieces as well. I do have to admit, I’m also an online shopper addict!

What is on your fashion wish list at the moment? I am dying for a classic yet interesting pair of sleek black booties. I would love some high-waisted flare jeans that scream the ‘70s as well as some easy breezy blouses to wear with my sparkly skirts for the winter!

About my closet: I love that my closet is colorful and there is such a mix of patterns and textures. I like to change how I organize my clothes every once in a while so I don’t forget about anything. Sometimes I’ll organize by color, by the type of place I would wear them, or by style genre (e.g. girly, hippie, polished, tomboy, etc.). I also try to hang as much as I can up in my closet rather than putting them in drawers so I can see everything easily and am always inspired!

Brown suede motorcycle jacket: I have been holding out for the perfect fall jacket (as seen in my "Gimme Now" post on my blog) and I finally found it on www.stylebymarina.com. It fits so well and gives you great shape with the subtle shoulder pads and the rich color. I also love how it's such a unique take on the classic motorcycle jacket and it's so me!

Olive green blouse: This shirt is from Urban Outfitters and it is one of the most versatile pieces I own. The color is very on trend and the shape allows you to wear it with jeans, leggings, or my favorite - a high-waisted skirt. It can be casual or dressy and I'll certainly be wearing it for quite a long time.

Free people patterned dress: I love this boho chic Free People dress! It gives anyone a great shape and is perfect for every season! The pattern is super unique and I love how flowy it is!

Copper sequin skirt: This amazingly sparkly J. Crew skirt is one of my most recent gems. I adore the deep copper color and I can't wait to wear it this Holiday season with a creamy blouse and my chestnut lace-up booties!

Thanks so much Mandy for sharing your fantastic closet with us!

XOXO,

LP

Student-Flair Blog does La Placard!

Our next Le Placard feature is with Giorgia, a real life Carrie Bradshaw turned Alexa Chung. We love her thrifty vintage style and also her love for traveling. This Italian inspiration has got an eye for great style which is why we love her blog and had to feature her for our next Le Placard. Meet Giorgia!

Name: Giorgia
Location: Tuscany, Italy
Occupation: Student in standby and secretary, but also blogger at www.studentflairblog.com
Favorite Quote: “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” Coco Chanel
Favorite Designer: Giorgio Armani
What is on your fashion wish list at the moment?: A stylish Borsalino hat and leather gloves

How would you describe your style?: I love to be comfortable but at the same time trying being stylish. When working I do have to manage different things so that I should be able to be dressed very classy for an important meeting but yet comfortable enough to lift big boxes in the very same day. I must say I had a very wild phase when I was a teenager (I really resembled SATC Carrie's outrageous crazy outfits, wearing tulle pins, bright prints and bold colors!) but now I've become more classier. Most important, I want clothes that fits me well and make me looks better. I'm petite but curvy (of course I'm curvy, I'm italian!) so I really have to balance proportions and be accurate with my choices. Dark washed denim jeans, loosy sweaters, comfortable high heels, blazers, jersey dresses with boots, those are my key pieces!

Where do you get your clothes?: Most of them are High Street, like basic t-shirts and trendy pieces. I try instead to spend a little bit more on coats and statement pieces, shopping at higher quality department stores, but I don't own any designer garment or it bag whatsoever, I don't really like to spend a fortune on clothes, I prefer to save and spend them on travelling! This is why I love thrifting, although there's not much chances here in Italy, we mostly have vintage and second-hand shops which have slightly higher prices than charity shops, but they're great when they're holding sales or special events.

What I like most about my closet is that finally I don't have that urge to buy anything I see in stores. I think I have what I need, so I just update a bit seasonly to stay trendy. And then a bit of shopping always make us feel happier!

In my choices I included a recent purchase, a real bargain: a Stefanel white coat which I bought at a Vintage store in Florence; it fits me wonderfully, the shape is great and having it on it means I don't have to dress up because the coat does all the dirty work!

And also my new pumps: comfortable, classy enough to go with a dress but they look great with jeans either. I've been looking for them for ages and last week I finally found them at a local store!

Thanks so much for sharing your awesome closet with us Giorgia! Click here to check out her blog, Student Flair.
XOXO,

Ooh La La Bardot in Blue does La Placard!!

DOES

We are SO excited to share our next Le Placard feature with you. One of our absolute favorite bloggers, Haleigh from Bardot in Blue, was kind enough to let us feature her AMAZING Parisian closet! Haleigh's closet is filled with lovely vintage pieces and beautiful girly frocks, which she wears and is then photographed in throughout Paris for her delicious blog. She even sells some of her unique vintage finds on her etsy store . We love Haleigh's California girl-turned-authentic Parisian style, and constantly read her blog for daily inspiration and to admire her ability to create the most incredible outfits. So, without further ado..

Occupation: Advertising: Strategic Planner
Favorite Quote: Life is too short to not be fabulous!
Favorite Designer: Miuccia Prada

Lately I have been subletting apartments for six months so my closet has been completely displaced between my apartment and two storage units! I just bought an apartment however and get to move in in three months, and when I do I will finally have a walk in closet! I can't wait...

How would you describe your style?
My style is feminine and flirtatious. I am one part vintage pinup, one part gypsy, and one party princess. I love color, layers, and feeling like one of a kind. I love to play with textures too! When I think of my dream wardrobe it's filled with touches of ruffles, silk, feather, fur, sequins, patent leather, cashmere, and tulle! I've heard my style described lots of ways though, including very Blair Waldorf...I do own six satin bow headbands!

We're convinced she has the most amazing shoe collection EVER!

Where do you get your clothes?
My wardrobe consists of items I have purchase from all over the world! Any given day my outfit is a walking map of all the places I have been. I don't like shopping big department stores so I stick to small boutiques lines, vintage threads collected from the fripperies in Paris, and outfits finished off with a touch of couture usually on my feet or for my handbag.

What is on your fashion wish list at the moment?
Miu Miu patent leather loafer platforms from the Fall 2010 collection. Stella McCartney ombre sequin leggings. American Apparel's tutu skirt in ivory. An blue Angora sweater by Fifi Chachnil. Manoush's silk sweetheart dress. Vivienne Westwood nude pink polished leather emblem bag. Christian Dior ribbon sweater.

Haleigh's Wish List

Thanks so much Haleigh for sharing your fantastic closet with us!

XOXO,

LP
