Bloomers: they're here

I remember my dad making fun of bloomers because way back in the day they were for little kids or underneath dresses. Now, they're back and super stylish. For Fall/Winter I have been seeing a lot of this look of the bloomers paired with tights and then either flats or boots. The good thing is that this look is versatile so when you're in warmer weather just lose the tights and it'll be perfect.

My favorite pair are these from topshop that come with the belt. They have a lot other colors and ones without the belts with a little bit of a tweaked style but I like the ones below!

Your must have lace

If you are going to add any lace piece to your closet you should definitely add this one from American Apparel. This is the best lace basic I have come across and I love pairing it with jeans and boots or tucking it into a high waisted skirt. They have a few different styles of lace patterns but this one (Leaf Flower Lace Tee) is my favorite. Get yours here.

The witching hour is almost upon us

Halloween is coming up in just a little over a week and I think LB has convinced me to dress as Ke$ha for Halloween. It should be easy considering I potentially look enough like her to pull it off. Yes I'm guilty of my love of studs. I did a post earlier today about these fabulous Louboutins but I saw a picture of these Chuck Taylors fully studded and of course I love! The perfect rockstar shoe with a black dress.

That girl is all style

Yesterday I had the luxury of coming close to these babies as one girl in my class was rocking them through our rainy day in LA. I have to say I was impressed with her shoe choice because apparently weather is not a factor that affects her style. These are the shoes I dream about. These Christian Louboutins are absolutely fantastic and I am obsessed. Seriously rock star.

Dear LA this is not okay

I'm sorry if you do this but this is a huge pet peeve of mine. If you are able to wear shorts and a t-shirt outside, why the hell are you wearing Uggs. This is not a fashion statement. I have seen a ton of it around LA lately and it's been above 65 degrees and coming from Chicago that is not the type of weather where you need insulated fur shoes let alone if it is warm enough to wear shorts! If you like the look of boots with your shorts or your dresses/skirts then go for a lighter boot. Something without the fur like the moccasins or rocker boots. But please, please, don't wear Uggs and shorts.

American Baby

Not only is this model/actress American made, but she is also the great-granddaughter of author Ernest Hemingway. . .and that's the justa leaf on this girl's groovy family tree.

Dree has walked the runways of Chanel, Givenchy, Giles, Calvin Klein, and even opened for Top Shop in 2009. Just this year she was named the new face of Italian designer Gianfranco Ferré. Did we mention this doesn't include her print work?

What we love most about Dree is her classic American look combined with an effortless, messy chic, oh and of course her fierce street style.

From time to time I seriously wish I had some psychedelic feathers instead of hair. But since I can't dye my mane iridescent blue, I've found that long feather earrings, worn with messy bed head hair will do the trick.

Here are some great ones that I found on Etsy. The site literally carries every color combination and length you can imagine. Some artists even offer to make you a custom pair if you can't find some exactly to your liking.

Lovely in lace

I know it's not the season for white but I saw this photo of Valentine and have decided that my next mission is to find myself a gorgeous lace dress. Maybe soon enough I will be able to make one myself but until then let the vintage shop searching begin!

Nails- Color of the Week

This Friday I received a lovely package in the mail... Inside I found my very own bottle of Butter London's most popular Fall color: 'All Hail McQueen'. A color created specifically as a tribute to the magnificent late designer.


This color is perfect for fall, a pale grey with bits of shimmer that makes me think back to his fall 2006 show and the ghostly hologram of Kate Moss.

Le Placard de Coco

Nous adorons Coco!

Vogue's Lauren Santo Domingo just recently did a shoot of model Coco Rocha's Manhattan apartment that she share's with hubby/artist James Conran. And we just love getting a peek inside one of our favorite model's Le Placard!

Is that some Leopard I see!

“I had a company come in to build my closet,” Rocha says. “There were a few things that were important to me, like drawers for my jewelry, a shoe area, a makeup counter, and plenty of space to put my clothes.” Although she crafted her dream closet, the model admits that half her collection of clothes has overflowed into the closets in her guest bedroom/study.

“My closet is full of a lot of vintage pieces, and everything is very random,” she says of choosing her own clothes for her sitting. “I have Tudor-era clothes mixed in with pieces from the 1920s and 1940s.”

“One of my favorite things about my closet is my makeup counter,” Rocha says.

I know it's not part of her closet, but her bedroom is tres romantique!

Mon obsession: Camille

I know my last post had a picture of her in it but after spending at least an hour going through all of her posts I am simply obsessed with Camille. She's just a parisienne girl trying to be stylish in this world. I love her style and the way she puts together all of her outfits with these signature pieces. I can't get enough of it and I'm now officially addicted. Check out more of her here.

This is a photo of a fellow blogger that I happened to stumble upon. I found this photo very interesting because of the lace that she wore underneath her crop top. I don't know why but I never thought to do that and I really like the way it looks. I know it's probably too cold wherever you are to wear this look but you can pair it with a skirt and tights or with jeans.

I'm currently in the middle of reading the 2nd edition of "True Prep"aka the Official Preppy Handbook, and it's bringing me back to my east coast days of field hockey, beirut, and weekends spent in Boston on Newbury Street, one of my favorite shopping places in the world. It was there that I first came across the store Rugby- a store which I can best describe as Ralph Lauren's punk rock little brother designed for the Ivy League crowd. And forget the iconic little pony, Rugby can be spotted by it's skull insignia.

The store consists of colorful oxfords and rugbys for which Ralph Lauren is well known, as well as edgier pieces perfect for a prep school uniform. The best part? You can design your own oxfords, rugby shirts, and hoodies, complete with monograms, patches, and maybe an old family crest or two.
