I'm fading man

It seems to me that these days celebrities are either slacking on getting a dye job or have begun a new trend of the "grown out" look. Rachel Bilson, Lauren Conrad, Drew Barrymore, and Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor have all opted for a multi-toned hair do. I really love Rachel Bilson's hair color possibly because it looks less like she has really bad roots with blonde hair but more of a subtle brown fade. What are your thoughts on this trend? An accident or a potentially amazing new trend?
