A very new year Le Placard!

DOES

We've seen some pretty fabulous placards so far and we are very excited to share yet another amazing one with you today. Luckily for Mandy, she has a huge closet full of all of her fabulous fashion treasures inside and we got to take a peek at her favorite pieces! You can see Mandy's blog here and check out her boho chic style below!

Name:
Mandy (Amanda Holstein)

Location: San Francisco
Occupation: I'm a recent graduate who's currently teaching kindergarten, but am working on starting a career in fashion!
Favorite Designer: Betsey Johnson

How would you describe your style? Boho Chic. I love wearing laid back, hippie pieces but keeping them modern and polished. I try to be unique when I dress and interpret the trends in my own way. I also stick to what I like, even if it’s not on trend, because it’s important to keep the outfit looking me.

Where do you get your clothes? I shop at a lot of the same stores, like Urban Outfitters, H&M, Zara, and Forever 21. But I also live in a city with so many unique boutiques, vintage shops, and street fairs that it’s easy to find one-of-a-kind pieces as well. I do have to admit, I’m also an online shopper addict!

What is on your fashion wish list at the moment? I am dying for a classic yet interesting pair of sleek black booties. I would love some high-waisted flare jeans that scream the ‘70s as well as some easy breezy blouses to wear with my sparkly skirts for the winter!

About my closet: I love that my closet is colorful and there is such a mix of patterns and textures. I like to change how I organize my clothes every once in a while so I don’t forget about anything. Sometimes I’ll organize by color, by the type of place I would wear them, or by style genre (e.g. girly, hippie, polished, tomboy, etc.). I also try to hang as much as I can up in my closet rather than putting them in drawers so I can see everything easily and am always inspired!

Brown suede motorcycle jacket: I have been holding out for the perfect fall jacket (as seen in my "Gimme Now" post on my blog) and I finally found it on www.stylebymarina.com. It fits so well and gives you great shape with the subtle shoulder pads and the rich color. I also love how it's such a unique take on the classic motorcycle jacket and it's so me!

Olive green blouse: This shirt is from Urban Outfitters and it is one of the most versatile pieces I own. The color is very on trend and the shape allows you to wear it with jeans, leggings, or my favorite - a high-waisted skirt. It can be casual or dressy and I'll certainly be wearing it for quite a long time.

Free people patterned dress: I love this boho chic Free People dress! It gives anyone a great shape and is perfect for every season! The pattern is super unique and I love how flowy it is!

Copper sequin skirt: This amazingly sparkly J. Crew skirt is one of my most recent gems. I adore the deep copper color and I can't wait to wear it this Holiday season with a creamy blouse and my chestnut lace-up booties!

Thanks so much Mandy for sharing your fantastic closet with us!

XOXO,

LP

Celebrity Outfits of the Week

This week wearing...

Apparently the hottest nail polish color to hit the North Shore of Chicago is Smokin' Hot by Essie. I went in for a manicure and everyone including the manicurist had this color on. It's really cool because it looks like it's dark gray but it has a purple tint to it.

Little Things

I'm finally back from the islands (St. Thomas to be exact) after a very very long day of delays and potential missed flights coming home. Feels good to be back even though there is about three feet of snow surrounding me. On my trip home, though, I did see this girl wearing these really cute Tory Burch gold flats. I like these way better than the plain black ones you usually see.

Merry Christmas to our groovy followers all over the world! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season full of friends, family, fashion (of course), and lots of happiness! Perfect things to pack for your beach vacation

I had a lot of trouble trying to find things for beach vacations because winter usually means more monotone and earth tone colors. Try sticking to some fun brights like turquoise, orange, or pink!

NYE Dresses!!

New Years Eve is coming up in just a few more weeks and I don't want to see any more LBDs on NYE. This year go for something more extravagant like the dresses pictured above. If you really don't want to leave the color black then get a sequin black dress like the Tibi one above. I also love the maroon velvet one from brownsfashion.com. Go for that extra flare and nab that guy for an amazing New Years Eve midnight kiss!

From top left to bottom right: Harvey Nichols, Tibi, brownsfashion.com, Forever Unique, dearfieldbinder.com, Milly, Adam, Topshop, Topshop, net-a-porter, senseofashion.com, frockaholics.com

Celebrity Outfit of the Week: Rachel Bilson of course!

Rachel Bilson is one of my favorite people to watch styles. She is simply flawless and is amazing at putting pieces together. I love this dress that she wore to Spike TV's 2010 Video Game Awards.

Update your leather jacket for Winter

I just love wearing my leather jacket, and find every excuse to do so once fall is in the air. However, I find that its not quite warm enough when the weather drops to freezing temperatures, and adding layers can feel too bulky. A great solution to this problem (and also a cute way to spice up your jacket) is to add some fur!

A fur stole or vest looks chic and keeps you warm when worn over your favorite leather jacket. I found vintage stoles on ebay for pretty reasonable prices, and a faux version on both Amazon and Piperlime for even less!

Fur- Reason #8 why we ♥ winter

Celebrity Outfit of the Week: Dree Hemingway in Dior

This week I'm loving Dree Hemingway's winter take on floral at a Dior event this past week.

What I particularly liked was how she paired the flowery Dior dress with a casual grey sweater to make this look more Winter appropriate. And those shoes are to die for! Props (again) to our casual queen.

The Christmas Gig

Ok ok I know this is 'supposed' to be a fashion blog, but I couldn't help but share with you the amazing Christmas playlist I found for FREE on Target's website. This store seriously just keeps getting better and better! The 14 song playlist includes tunes from Guster, Blackalicious, and Coconut Records just to name a few of my favorites.

You can download the playlist here. Just a little something to brighten your Monday morning
-Enjoy!

10 Reasons we ♥ winter!

Eff off Winter blues! We've got 10 reasons (in no particular order) why we think Winter is pretty freaking great.

Winter time means time to break out our
favorite pair of tights to keep warm. They come
in just about every pattern and color imaginable,
and are the perfect way to liven up a boring outfit.
We
ATL's American Apparel heart tights. Did
we mention they make an amazing knee sock version
too?!

Bundle up in your cutest hat and mittens and spend an evening
with your boo or your best friends gliding underneath the stars..
or in our case beneath the twinkling city lights!

Stock up on firewood, and when the snowflakes begin to fall
outside, curl up in front of the fireplace with a fur blanket and
a good book.

Winter means it's finally time to break out your favorite pair
of fur lined boots that you've been dying to wear since you
bought them in September.

Winter means all of our favorite seasonal drinks are back at the local
Sbux. Gingerbread and Creme Brulee Lattes, White Chocolate Steamers,
and what's better than a Peppermint mocha? A Starbucks peppermint

brownie to go with it!

So many excuses to wear as much glitter and bling as your
little heart desires!

Paper ones and real ones, I just love big fluffy piles of
powdery white snow! Take that Peppermint mocha and
pour over a cup of snow, and you've got yourself a delicious
snow cone.

Real or faux, winter is the only time you can get away
with snuggling with your outerwear.

We love fashion and all things that come down runways,
but our favorite show of the year has got to be the girly,
fun, and SESKI Victoria's Secret Fashion Show!

And our absolute favorite part of the Winter is the holidays!
Whether it's Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's or even
Valentine's Day, we just love that there are so many reasons
to spend time with our lovely friends and family.

Happy Winter my little fashion birds!
